I Love You But Not Quite - Part 01

PROLOGUE

She looked up and said, "So, how do you want it?"

He looked flustered by the spontaneity of the question. For a moment he didn't know what to say. Taking a deep breath he said, "I want it slow."

"What's the magic word?" she asked again.

"Err... please?" he said.

"Oh my God, Matt! You're so hopeless!" said Gina throwing her arms in the air.

"The magic word is money! You should say... I will pay you, for God sake!" she continued.

Matt had asked Gina earlier if she could help teach him the arts of asking someone out on a date. He had been fancying this girl, Amanda from work, at least for the last 3 years. At least secretly and Gina is the only living soul who knows about it... well unless Toby, his pet bulldog counts, of course. Not that Matt's a bad looking guy, he's in fact a looker, he's just so geekish. It's a well known fact that as much fun and nice a geek is, they are pretty hopeless in the love department.

Matt and Gina are best friends. They've known each other for as long as they could remember. They tried dating before but then realised they were better off as friends. They have been through a lot, from saving each other from the bullies at school to the death of a pet.

"Ok, ok! I will pay you, how much do you want to charge me?" asked Matt back.

"Hmm... well... not much, really. How about a holiday to Hawaii?" asked Gina sweetly.

"Are you out of your mind?" screamed Matt.

"Geez, take it easy dude. You need to chill, you know. Girls dig that. Don't worry about payment now, I'll think of something later but sure as hell you'll need to pay for my consultancy," laughed Gina.

Gina is gorgeous and there isn't a single guy she knows who doesn't want to date her. She dated a few, well all of them in fact and yet no one could understand her better than Matt. Not that she hasn't dated him yet but as much as she loves Matt the best friend, he is just so... Matt.

There was a pang of jealousy when she found out about Amanda from Matt. She didn't understand why. She knew she should be happy for Matt, she did broke his heart when she told him they couldn't work out and were better off as best friends. But the thought of Matt busy with a girlfriend and ignoring her is tormenting. For as long as she could remember, Matt was always there for her, night and day, sad or happy... just named it, you got it!

Now she needs to think of something quick. She needs to teach Matt on how to ask Amanda out without being his dorky self. She needs to find a way so that it would look as if she taught him something that's supposed to work but actually can't. She knows it is so evil to do that to Matt but she can't help herself and she can't explain it why either. All the she knows, she hates the idea of Matt having a girlfriend.

"Ok, let's forget about it for now shall we? Come with me to the pool? You need to get some tan, girls dig tanned guys, you know?" said Gina.

"Oh really? I guess you're right then. What should I wear? Swimming trunks or shorts?" asked Matt back.

"Hhmmmm... the trunks. Err... err... that way you can tan your thighs too" said Gina quickly, much too quickly.

"Well, ok. Wait for me downstairs, ok?" asked Matt while he moved to the closet.

"Okie dokie." replied Gina and walked towards the door.

She swore silently. She didn't understand why she wanted to see it again. She even blushed at the dirty thoughts in her head. She can't seem to erase the image from her mind. Matt is huge and the bulky thing under the tight swimming trunks? It does make her heart beating a little bit faster.

... to be continued.
